The members of Antiphonus intertwined after a long period of singing and music-making in various groups. Educated musicians of various profiles, they finally crystallised in a homogeneous group in 2006. Nourishing the sound that aims at a melange between the tradition of a full bodied eastern European vocal sound and the western balance and purity, they are building a wide-range repertoire-from the plainchant to the recently written, cross-over, or commissioned works. Paying special attention to the Croatian contemporary music, Antiphonus premiered pieces of the Croatian foremost authors, but also gave the first contemporary performances of the newly emerged works from the dusty libraries. Antiphonus performed at every major Croatian Festival, including Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Music Biennale, Dubrovnik Early Music Festival and Varaždin Baroque Evenings; upon last summer’s tour on the SEVIQC Festival with Monteverdi’s madrigals, the Slovenian Radio engaged Antiphonus to record them, together with the works of Slovenian baroque composers. Their performance crowned the festive concert of the Croatian joining the EU and represented Croatia at the national festival in Paris 'Croatie, le voici'; the group records frequently for the Croatian Television, and it’s album of the Croatian renaissance and baroque music, recorded with Dmitry Sinkovsky, Krešimir Špicer and Edin Karamazov among others, is to be released within a few months.

Internationally acclaimed as one of Italian excellence in the early music for its interpretative verve which combines extraordinary and inspired vitality with philological authenticity, Il Rossignolo is an ensemble - whose component parts vary on the basis of repertoire - which specializes in the study and performance of early music played on historical instruments. The group was founded and is coordinated by flute players Marica Testi and Martino Noferi and harpsichordist Ottaviano Tenerani, who is also the conductor.
The group's recording activity has led to the production of important rediscoveries in recent times such as the Madrigali et canzonette a cinque voci by Orazio Caccini, Sinfonie da camera by G.B. Martini, and Notturni a quattro by G.B. Sammartini (“A marvelous album!” – Classical Music). The group's recording projects from a more widely known repertory include Scarlatti's Concerti e Sinfonie and Vivaldi's Concerti per violino et organo. Their production of Le Sonate op. 2 by Benedetto Marcello/Sonate a solo cembalo, was acclaimed by Musicweb International as “a brilliant interpretation, as we well expect from Italian musicians playing Italian music . . . “, and was named one of the year's best albums.
Il Rossignolo has recently signed a recording contract with Sony Classical International. The first product of this collaboration was Germanico, an opera recently rediscovered by Il Rossignolo and attributed to Georg Friedrich Händel. Only months after its release, the record was acclaimed by classical music publications as “a planetary success”. It has won awards in France (Muse d'Or), the U.K. (record of the month, Gramophone Awards Issue, BBC Music Magazine, October 2011), Germany (Five Star CD Award, Financial Times Deutschland; Album of the Week, NDR Kultur.de), Italy (Five Star CD Award, Classic Voice; CD of the Month, Sat Guide), and was No. 1 on the SONY/DHM Best Sellers' chart for a considerable length of time.
Il Rossignolo is the ensemble in residence at the Istituto di Alta Formazione Musicale Rinaldo Franci in Siena, Italy, where it coordinates the Department of History of Musical Interpretation which offers courses in ancient musical instruments and chamber music.
To complete its flourishing musical and musicological activities, in 2010 the group founded its own publishing company, Le Edizioni Il Rossignolo, thereby providing a direct means to present its various activities including publications, urtext editions, facsimiles, critical editions and studies.
Since 2013 the group is among the Top Artists in the new catalog of Sony Classical, with which has a program of recordings of works by Handel, Antonio Caldara and Alessandro Scarlatti.
